April Events & Festivals

Feel like you just came out of hibernation? April events, festivals, concerts, and other activities are sure to help your "so glad winter is gone" mood. This month we celebrate Spring with music, food, and wine. It's Jazz Appreciation  

Month and there are several jazz festivals in the region where you can enjoy this truly American music and some of its top artists. It's National Garden Month, so be inspired to dig in the dirt, and just for fun, it's National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Month, so experiment with different cheeses and breads.

April 18-26 is National Park Week, so plan a visit to the Gulf Islands National Seashore. National Dolphin Day is April 14th, a great day to see some of these beautiful creates in the wild or at one of our marine parks. During National Library Week you can read a good book, and don't forget Administrative Professionals Day on the 22nd. They keep our businesses going.

Wine tasting is on tap this month.

6th Annual Perdido Key Wine & Art Festival

Date: April 2 - 5, 2015
Hours: Thursday 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Where: Villagio Town Center, Perdido Key
Cost: Thursday event $25 per person, Friday & Saturday Wine Tasting $15 per person each day

Enjoy delicious wines, great food, and live music at this celebration of the grape and culinary arts. Thursday is Taste of Perdido, where area restaurants tempt you with their signatures dishes. Then Friday and Saturday, sample wines and take home a souvenir glass.

Blue Angels Practice

If you've never seen the Blue Angles in flying action, you need to come to one of their practice sessions. With all the skill and jet power that the team is famous for, it's an amazing performance. Afterward, the team can be found signing autographs and answering questions at the National Naval Aviation Museum.

Flea Across Florida

Date: April 10-11, 2015

Where: U. S. Highway 90 throughout Northwest Florida

If you have stuff to sell or just like to brake for yard sales, be sure and travel Highway 90 this weekend. Flea Across Florida is Florida's Longest Yard Sale, stretching 272 Miles from Live Oak to Pensacola on U.S. Highway 90. Come visit the many small communities along U.S 90 for a weekend full of history, treasures, and lucky finds.

15th Annual Sopchoppy Worm Gruntin' Festival

Date: April 11, 2015
Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.(Eastern Time)

"Discovered" by Charles Kuralt, studied by Vanderbilt University, and featured on the Discovery Channel's "Dirty Jobs," the age-old practice of worm gruntin' is celebrated in this day-long family-friendly festival. Earthworms, essential for fishing, are an economic staple in this community and worm gruntin' is the way bait harvesters call the worms to the surface. There'll be demonstrations, live music, over 80 vendors, contests with cash prizes, and the Worm Grunters' Ball.

32nd Annual Pensacola Jazz Fest

Date: April 11 & 12, 2015

Each year, a bit of New Orleans comes to Pensacola with the Pensacola Jazz Fest. Sponsored by the Jazz Society of Pensacola (JSOP) and a variety of corporate sponsors and individual donors, the 2-day festival celebrates America's unique musical art form-Jazz. This year's line-up includes the multi-talented pianist/keyboardist Gino Rosaria and his group, and Fred Domulot who will with the Guffman Trio, among others.

29th Annual Sandestin Wine Festival

Date: April 16-19, 2015
Hours: Grand Wine Tasting, Friday 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Where: The Village of Baytowne Wharf, Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, South Walton

With all the ambiance of Southern France, this four-day festival at Sandestin's Village of Baytowne has over 100 winemakers pouring 700 varieties of domestic and imported wines paired with special events and dinners. 

Wakulla Wildlife Festival

Seabreeze Jazz Festival

Date: April 22-26, 2015

"The "ULTIMATE WEEKEND" Of Smooth Jazz," the Seabreeze Jazz Festival has been entertaining jazz lovers for 14 years. Featuring artists from across the country, this year's line-up includes Phil Perry, Nick Colionne, Rick Braun, Althea Rene, Gail Jhonson, and many more.

31st Annual FunFest

Children’s activities, arts and crafts vendors, fireworks, tasty treats and live entertainment make this weekend long family-friendly festival on the beach a must-do event. You can even stop in at the Panhandle Butterfly House while you're there.

25th Annual Carrabelle Riverfront Festival

Musical Echoes Native American Flute Festival

Experience a unique opportunity to interact with Native American craftsmen demonstrating their arts and selling their wares and enjoy an extraordinary weekend of music with internationally acclaimed musicians. 39th Annual Saturday in the Park Festival and Heritage 5K & Kids Fun Run

This annual event sponsored by the Heritage Museum of Northwest Florida features more than 100 artisans, craftspeople, antique dealers and food vendors. Historical re-enactments and traditional trade demonstrations, as well as contests, games, museum tours, storytelling and music will wrap up this day of historical, family-friendly fun. The Heritage Museum 5K and Kid’s 1 Mile Fun Run will kick off the festivities at 8am with late registration at 7am and sign-in at 7:30am.

Tallahassee Jazz and Blues Festival

Date: April 25 & 26, 2015
