Festivals in Northwest Florida August 2014 Events Calendar

August is a great month for Exploring and the Festivals in Northwest Florida August Events Calendar can help you decide where to go and what to do. It features music at the beach, fresh scallops, and a celebration of the possum along with a complete listings of times, dates, locations and what's happening.

There are several things to think about in August. It's National Beach Month, so be sure to fit in some beach time along with back to school shopping

August is also National Parks Month, so a visit to our own Gulf Islands National Seashore is a great way to round out the summer with sun, sand and historical Exploring at Fort Pickens. It's also National Inventors Month, and who is there better to celebrate in the summer than the inventor of air conditioning, John Gorrie?

National Aviation Week is August 17-23, with Orville Wright's birthday on August 19, so how about a visit to the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola or the Air Force Armament Museum in Fort Walton Beach? Take a picnic with you because (you guessed it) it's National Picnic Month.

If you're looking for places to stay while you're here, you might want to check out some of the charming bed and breakfast inns or boutique hotels scattered throughout the region.

Last but certainly not least, it's Happiness Happens Month, so be sure and spread some happiness every where you go.

Below is our list of August festivals and events. We've tried to track them all down but with so much going on, it's hard to keep up with it all.

So, are we missing something?
