Whewh! April is normally the month when everybody comes out to play, but this year the calendar is really packed! So, without further adieu, we present what's happening all along the Florida gulf coast.

But, these annual festivals are only a sampling of the things to do in the region. With so much happening, it's hard to keep up with it all, so are we missing something?

seville square Seville Quarter Reggae Fest

They be jammin at Seville, mon! The spirit of Jamaica returns to the End of the Alley Courtyard and on the Main Stage in the Party Plaza at Seville Quarter. The two day Festival will be Jammin with Reggae inspired music and food. Headlining the Reggae Festival are five locally and nationally known acts.

If you have stuff to sell or just need to brake for yard sales, be sure and travel the back roads this week. Flea Across Florida is Florida's Longest Yard Sale, stretching 272 Miles from Live Oak to Pensacola on U.S. Highway 90. Come visit the many small communities along U.S 90 for a weekend full of history, treasures, and lucky finds.


worm gruntin festival 12th Annual Sopchoppy Worm Gruntin' Festival

Date: April 14, 2012
Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.(Eastern Time)
Where: U. S. Highway 319, downtown Sopchoppy

"Discovered" by Charles Kuralt, studied by Vanderbilt University, and featured on the Discovery Channel's "Dirty Jobs," the age-old practice of worm gruntin' is celebrated in this day-long family-friendly festival. Earthworms, essential for fishing, are an economic staple in this community and worm gruntin' is the way bait harvesters call the worms to the surface. There'll be demonstrations, live music, over 80 vendors, contests with cash prizes, and the Worm Grunters' Ball.

pensacola lighthouse Lighthouse Days Celebration

Date: April 14 & 15, 2012
Hours: Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Sunday 12 noon to 5:30 p.m.
Where: Pensacola Lighthouse, 2081 Radford Blvd., Pensacola
Cost: Festivities are Free, Admission to climb the lighthouse is $5 for Adults, $3 children 7 to 12 (children must be 44" tall)

Visit the Pensacola Lighthouse in search of history and maritime lore during Lighthouse Days. Visit the historic 1859 landmark, one of five lighthouses in Northwest Florida, and celebrate Florida's rich maritime history. Festivities will included music, folk artisans, historic displays, caricature artist, magician, hay rides, and fun activities for the children.

pensacola jazz fest 29th Annual Pensacola Jazz Fest

Each year, a bit of New Orleans comes to Pensacola with the Pensacola Jazz Fest. Sponsored by the Jazz Society of Pensacola (JSOP) and a variety of corporate sponsors and individual donors, the 2-day festival celebrates America's unique musical art form-Jazz. This year's line-up includes pianist/vocalist Champian Fulton, keyboardist and composer Jeff Lorber, and Louis Ford & His New Orleans Jazz Flairs among others.

Date: April 18-22, 2012

The Farmers Opry presents three days of world class bluegrass with this year's headliner Ms. Rhonda Vincent. The line-up also includes Blue Moon Rising, Deepsouth Bluegrass, The Rowells, Sweetwater Run, and other top Bluegrass stars. Come for dinner or just come for the show, either way it's a fun musical event.

9th Annual Legends & Lore Festival

Date: April 20 & 21, 2012
Hours: Friday 9:00 a.m.to 3:00 p.m., Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Where: Falling Waters State Park, 2 miles south of Chipley off Highway 77
Cost: $5 donation per car load

Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Falling Waters State Park and experience the real Florida, before electricity and horseless carriages. see blacksmiths, butter maker, basket weavers, grist mills, antique farm equipment plus many animal displays including a live venomous snake display. There will be living history demonstrators including Civil War re-enactors, Cracker Cow Camp, Frontier Family Encampment and artists using anything from a chainsaw to a paintbrush with a variety of homemade crafts, artwork & jewelry for sale.

This annual event sponsored by the Heritage Museum of Northwest Florida features more than 100 artisans, craftspeople, antique dealers and food vendors. Historical re-enactments and traditional trade demonstrations, as well as contests, games, museum tours, storytelling and music will wrap up this day of historical, family-friendly fun. The Heritage Museum 5K and Kid’s 1 Mile Fun Run will kick off the festivities at 8am with late registration at 7am and sign-in at 7:30am.

Beautiful horses, talented rides and live music are the staples of the three-day annual event. Horses and their owners and trainers come to Panama City Beach from all over the country to compete for prize money and prizes with proceeds going to area charities.




sandestin wine festival 26th Annual Sandestin Wine Festival

Date: April 26-29, 2012
Hours: Grand Wine Tasting 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Where: The Village of Baytowne Wharf, Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, South Walton
Cost: Tickets are $85 per day in advance and $95 per day at the door.

With all the ambiance of Southern France, this four-day festival at Sandestin's Village of Baytowne has over 100 winemakers pouring 700 varieties of domestic and imported wines paired with special events and dinners. The Coastal Living Cooking demonstration is $20 with the purchase of a regular wine tasting ticket.

28th Annual FunFest

3rd Annual Orange and Bluegrass Festival

Sponsored by the Washington County TDC and The Groves RV Retreat, this one-day outdoor music festival features some of the area’s best Bluegrass and Gospel music artists. Enjoy music under the oaks. Gates open at 1:00 p.m. and the music lasts until the musicians get tired.

Enjoy the sounds of the islands at the Goombay Festival, the second-largest gathering of steel drum bands in the United States. Listen as these amazing musicians create calypso and reggae music on modified oil drums. From 2pm to 9pm this is a family-friendly event with a children's area, food and entertainment.

22nd Annual Carrabelle Riverfront Festival
