Here it is! The Northwest Florida Events Calendar May 2012. It lists all the festivals and what’s happening across the region so you can plan your weekend.

May is going to be a busy month starting with Mother’s Day and ending with Memorial Day. You can be sure Northwest Florida festivals will keep the entertainment rolling.

We’ve tried to track down all of the May events, but this is only a sampling of the things to do in the region. With so much going on, it's hard to keep up with it all.

Plein Air Paint-out

Date: May 3-13, 2012
Hours: (Eastern Time) Vary
Where: Various locations in Gulf and Franklin Counties

Come out in the open air for ten days and watch art in the making as over 30 nationally acclaimed plein air artists paint the landscapes and the people who inhabit them in a "paint-out." Artists from all over the country will paint on location in Apalachicola, Cape San Blas, Indian Pass, Mexico Beach, and Port St. Joe. Events and exhibitions will take place at various locations throughout the event.

Apalachicola Trinity Church

20th Annual Historic Apalachicola Home & Garden Tour

Date: May 4 & 5, 2012
Hours: (Eastern Time) Friday, May 4, Evensong at 5:30 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church; Saturday, May 5, Homes open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Where: Apalachicola
Cost: Advance tickets $15 per person; Tickets sold on the day $20 per person

Take a guided tour through some of Apalachicola's most architecturally and historically significant homes, churches, and commercial buildings. This year’s theme, “A Passion for Preservation”, spotlights some of Apalachicola’s historic century-old homes. The featured house for this year’s tour is the home of world-renowned photojournalist Richard Bickel. Brand new this year is an all-day Symposium, featuring lectures, panel discussions and guided tours of Apalachicola's historical renovations. Symposium Tickets $75. Lunch will be served from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Trinity’s parish hall at a cost of $12.00 per person. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Trinity Episcopal Church Restoration Fund.

Pensacola crawfish festival

28th Annual Pensacola Crawfish Festival

Date: May 4-6, 2012
Hours: Friday 12 noon to 11:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Where: Bartram Park, Pensacola
Cost: Daily admission is $5 for adults, free for children 12 and under. A weekend pass for Friday, Saturday and Sunday is available for $10.

Sponsored by Fiesta of Five Flags, the Pensacola Crawfish Festival is one of the largest crawfish boils in Florida. You'll get crawfish anyway you like it; boiled crawfish, crawfish pies and crawfish po' boys, as well as other non-crawfish favorites. Enter the crawfish-eating contest, or just sit back and enjoy the live entertainment with lots of Cajun music.

38th Annual Blue Crab Festival

Date: May 5, 2012
Hours: (Eastern Time) Parade starts at 10:00 a.m., Gates open at 11:00 a.m.
Where: Panacea, U. S. Highway 98 in Wakulla County
Cost: Admission is $3.00 Per Person (Children under 12 free)

Celebrating the crab industry in Wakulla County, the day starts with a parade, ends with fireworks and includes live music, dance performances, food vendors, arts and crafts and more. The festival takes place at Woolley Park on scenic Dickerson Bay.

24th ArtsQuest Fine Arts & Music Festival

Date: May 11-13, 2012
Hours: Friday 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Songs on the Lawn, Ruskin Place, 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.; Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Where: Seaside, South Walton County
Cost: Free except for classes and workshops ($10) and Friday concert ($30 per person)

Spend Mother's Day Weekend at ArtsQuest with 130 international artists exhibiting in over a dozen mediums. There’ll be live music both days, artist workshops and demonstrations, KidZone children’s activities, dance, visual art, music and theatre, and food and beverage options provided by the Merchants of Seaside.

5th Annual Family Fun Arts Fest

Date: May 12, 2012
Hours: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Where: Henderson Beach State Park, Destin

Performances by local artists, family fun activities, a silent auction, arts & crafts booths and food throughout the day mark this arts festival sponsored by the Okaloosa Arts Alliance in conjunction with the Friends of the Emerald Coast State Parks. Both the Festival and Park are free and open to the public all day, with parking available in the Park. All proceeds benefit the Okaloosa Arts Alliance.

18th Annual Tour of Gardens

Date: May 19, 2012
Hours: (Eastern Time) 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Where: Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park, 3540 Thomasville Road, Tallahassee
Cost: Advance tickets $25

Begin the day with a continental breakfast at Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park, then take a self-guided tour of private gardens in the Tallahassee area (map provided). A silent auction and plant sale will take place during the breakfast and Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer questions at each garden.

22nd Annual Tupelo Honey Festival

Love honey? Then you'll love this honey of a festival in the heart of Tupleo honey country. Arts and crafts of all kinds, food vendors, games and activities for kids, live music and dancing are just some of the activities of the day. North Bay Clan of the Lower Creek Muscogee Tribe Pow Pow

Date: May 25-27, 2012
Hours: Daily 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.,
Saturday Grand Entry at 1:00 p.m.

Where: 1560 Lonnie Road (off Highway 77 south of Chipley) in Washington County

Experience Native American culture at this three-day Pow Pow with dancing, crafts, raffles, drumming demonstrations, a bow and arrow competition and more. There will also be food and drink vendors.

Memorial Day Concert Celebration at HarborWalk Village

Celebrate Memorial Day all weekend with live entertainment, activities and fireworks. On Friday and Saturday, Departure the Journey Tribute Band will rock the main stage, and on Sunday, Ron Adams will perform as Elvis, the Shadow of the King followed by fireworks over the Destin Harbor. Free face-painting and crafts for kids each night.
